Asta, the Giant Tasmanian Freshwater Crayfish

From the cool rivers of Northern Tasmania comes the largest freshwater invertebrate in the world.

Asta is over seven metres in length and has ten moving limbs.

But be careful – logging and habitat loss can bring out his grumpy side, and those pincers aren’t just for show!

Built by Bob Brown Foundation volunteers with Snuff Puppets.

Past appearances of Asta:

St Kilda Festival, 2019
Melbourne University, National Threatened Species Day, 2019
Sustainable Living Fest, Bendigo, 2018
Sustainable Living Fest, Melbourne, 2018
